The plans and specifications, for the project named above, have been reviewed for substantial compliance with the current Minnesota State Building Code. This review is limited to the submitted scope of work; is based upon the supposition that the data, on which the design is based, are correct; and that the necessary legal authority has been obtained to construct the project. Any changes from these documents and/or additional information shall be submitted to the Department of Building Safety for code compliance review and approval. Written response of approval must be on site prior to implementation of such changes. The following information is related to the submitted plans/scope as general information and/or code compliance requirements. Compliance with the stated requirements shall be verified during the construction process. Items to be Addressed and/or Corrected: 1. Materials used shall comply with the required construction type of the building. 2. Penetrations in the Fire Partitions separating dwelling units and corridors, and in the Horizontal Assembly separating dwelling units, shall be protected in accordance with MBC Section 714. (MBC Section 708 and Section 711) 3. Interior wall and ceiling finishes shall have a minimum class "C" flame spread and smoke development. (MBC Section 803) 4. Interior floor covering materials shall be of minimum Class II materials. (MBC Section 804) Interconnected smoke alarms are required to be installed in the sleeping room and in the hall area. (MBC Section 907.2.11.2) 6. A carbon monoxide alarm shall be installed within 10 feet of the sleeping room unless compliance with the exception stated in MBC Section 908.7 can be demonstrated. (MBC Section 908.7) 7. Door handles, pulls, latches, locks and other operating devices on doors shall not require tight grasping, tight pinching or twisting of the wrist to operate. (MBC Section 1008.1.9.1) 8. A vapor retarder shall be installed on the warm -in -winter side of the exterior wall. (MBC Section 1405.3) Accessibility Code Items: 1. The requirements of MN Rule 1341.0011 Subpart 12 apply. 2. Lighting controls, electrical switches and receptacle outlets, environmental controls, electrical panelboards, and uses controls for security or intercom systems shall be located 1 ithin 15 inches to 48 inches above the finished floor. Exceptions identified in Section 1004.9 may apply. (MAC Section 1004.9) 3. Reinforcement shall be provided for future installation of grab bars and shower seats and water closets, bathtubs, and shower compartments. (MAC Section 1004.11.1) 4. Water closet installation shall comply with the requirements stated in MAC Section 1004.11.3.1.2. 5. Clearance between all opposing base cabinets, counter tops, appliances, or walls within kitchen work areas shall be 40 inches minimum. (MAC Section 1004.12.1.1) 6.
