A single piece of equipment providing both heating and cooling shall satisfy this provision for one function with the capacity for the other function as small as possible, within available equipment options. (MCEC C403.3.1) • Economizers shall comply with Sections C403.5.1 through C403.5.5. An air or water economizer shall be provided for the following cooling systems: 1. Chilled water systems with a total cooling capacity, less cooling capacity provided with air economizers, as specified in Table C403.5(1). 2. Individual fan systems with cooling capacity greater than or equal to 54,000 Btu/h (15.8 km in buildings having other than a Group R occupancy, The total supply capacity of all fan cooling units not provided with economizers shall not exceed 20 percent of the total supply capacity of all fan cooling units in the building or 300,000 Btu/h (88 kK9, whichever is greater. 3. Individual fan systems with cooling capacity greater than or equal to 270,000 Btu/h (79.1 kK9 in buildings having a Group R occupancy. The total supply capacity of all fan cooling units not provided with economizers shall not exceed 20 percent of the total supply capacity of all fan cooling units in the building or 1,500,000 Btu/h (440 kVV), whichever is greater. (MCEC C403.5) • Carbon monoxide alarms shall be installed in new and existing rooms containing a fuel -burning appliance that is utilized to control environmental conditions and produces carbon monoxide during operation. (MFGC Subsection 311.1) • Gas Piping: 1. Gas piping shall be sized in compliance with MFGC section 402. 2. Corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) gas piping systems shall be bonded in accordance with MFGC Subsection 310.2 or 310.3 as applicable. 3. Gas piping exposed to corrosive action shall be protected in an approved manner. (MFGC Subsection 404.11) 4. Steel gas piping sizes % inch shall be supported at intervals not greater than 6 feet, % inch and 1 inch shall be supported at intervals of not greater than 8 feet, and piping sizes I % inch and larger shall be supported at intervals not greater than 10 feet. Refer to MFGC Table 415.1 of MFGC section 415 for support information for other sizes and/or materials. 5. Copper gas tubing sizes % inch shall be supported at intervals not greater than 4 feet, inch and % inch shall be supported at intervals of not greater than 6 feet. Refer to MFGC Table 415.1 of MFGC section 415 for support information for other sizes and/or materials. 6. Gas piping shall be elevated no less than 3% inches above the ground/roof surface and protected from physical damage. (MFGC Subsection 404.9) 7. A minimum 3-inch sediment trap shall be installed prior to the regulator. If a tee fitting is used, it shall provide a 90-degree change in direction of gas flow. (MFGC Subsection 408.4) 8. Each appliance shall be provided with a shutoff valve in the gas line, separate from the appliance and no further than 6 feet from the appliance, or located within 50 feet of the appliance when located at a manifold. (MFGC Subsection 409.5) 9. All new gas piping shall be tested and inspected in compliance with MFGC section 406. Test Pressure: 1 % to operating pressure but not less than 25 psig. Duration: thirty (30) minutes. Refrigerant circuit access ports located outdoors shall be fitted with locking -type tamper -resistant caps or shall be otherwise secured to prevent unauthorized access. (MMC Subsection 1101.10) 3. Refrigerant piping shall comply with MMC section 1107. 4. Refrigerant piping shall be of an approved material in accordance with MMC Subsection 1107.5. 5. Refrigerant pipe joints erected on the premises shall be exposed to visual inspection prior to being covered or enclosed. (MMC Subsection 1107.7) 6. Piping insulation shall comply with Table C403.11.3. (MEC Subsection C403.11.3) 7. Piping insulation shall be protected by aluminum, sheet metal, painted canvas, plastic cover or other approved material. Cellular foam shall be protected by a previous identified method or painted with a coating that is water -retardant and shields against solar degradation. Adhesive tape shall not be permitted. (MEC Subsection C403.11.3.1) • Condensate: 1. Condensate from fuel -burning appliances shall discharge to an approved plumbing fixture via approved corrosion -resistant piping at a minimum slope of 1 % slope. (MMC Subsection 307.1) 2. Condensate drain systems shall be provided for appliances containing evaporators or cooling coils. (MMC section 307.2) 3. Condensate drain lines shall not be less than %-inch internal diameter.
