supposition that the data on which the design is based are correct and that the necessary legal authority has been

and necessary change, the project designer(s), the building contractor(s) and the property owner(s) are ultimately
responsible for providing complete code compliance and maintaining minimum construction standards for the
safeguarding of life or limb, health, public welfare and property while constructing this project.
Approval is based on the correction of all noted deficiencies and compliance with all items listed below. Any changes from
these documents and/or additional information shall be submitted to the Department of Building Safety for code
compliance review and approval. Written response of approval must be on site prior to implementation of such changes.
The following information is related to the submitted plans/scope or as general information regarding code compliance.
Compliance with the stated requirements will be verified during the construction process.

SCOPE OF WORK: Fire damage repair at units 209 and 309, three laundry rooms, all hallways & stairs, and party room.
Repair of roof, plumbing if applicable, dryer vent replacement, and electrical if applicable.
PLAN SPECIFIC ITEMS (to be oompleted during the construction process):
1. Replacement of any door separating units and/or other areas from the corridor or other units shall be replaced with
same type of door (i.e. rated door with the same hourly rating as the existing door, etc.)
2. All smoke and carbon monoxide alarms shall be installed in the appropriate locations at the final inspection in the
two units where the work will be completed.
3. All disturbed rated wall assemblies and floor/ceiling rated assemblies shall be replaced per a listed assembly
chosen by the contractor. A listed assembly is not being requested as part of the review but will be required as part
of the rated assembly installation inspection. A listed assembly may not be determined until after the gypsum
board has been removed and the opposite side of the assembly can be observed to determine what type of listed
assembly will best fit the specific situation. An inspection shall be scheduled after all the demolition has been
completed, prior to concealing any areas affected by the demolition. Additional requirements may be addressed by
the inspector during this inspection.
4. Any insulation removed from any unit separation walls and the floor/ceiling areas shall be reinstalled to maintain
the required sound transmission class requirement of 50 per the 2020 Minnesota State Building Code and will
need to be inspected prior to gypsum board installation.
5. Code compliant handrails per the 2020 Minnesota State Building Code, Section 1014, shall be installed at the
stairways if removed to complete the work in the stairways.
6. Replacement of roof sheathing, roof covering, and insulation shall be the same as surrounding area not affected by
this project.
7. Any engineered assemblies (roof trusses, floor trusses, etc.) that need to be repaired/replaced shall be at the
direction of a structural engineer. Documentation of such repair/replacement shall be presented to the inspector
during the post demolition inspection.
8. Any questionable areas observed after the removal of the wall/ceiling covering shall be investigated by a structural
engineer and documentation presented to the inspector.
9. Any penetrations of rated assemblies shall be maintained with appropriate materials. Literature of material used to
seal penetrations shall be on -site during inspection.
10. Replacement of the dryer vents and any other ductwork systems shall be by separate mechanical permit.
Mechanical contractor shall apply for permit and shall consult with inspector for any specific requirements in
relation to site conditions.
11. If ceiling radiation dampers are present, they shall be verified that they function properly, and the appropriate
fusible links and other safety devices haven't been compromised.
GENERAL ITEMS:
1. Construction or work shall be inspected in accordance with the requirements of Minnesota Rule 1300.0210.
2. It is the responsibility of the contractor/installer to contact the Department of Building Safety, when ready to
schedule an inspection, at (952) 442-7520 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
