Objections to Proposed Sunset Drive
changes:
• Too Wide.
• Widening requires unaccepted transitions to existing land use such as loss of trees, driveways,
landscaping and extreme grade difference.
• Too Expensive and excessive.
• Unnecessary taxpayer dollars lost to other improvements in the neighborhood.
• Multiuse trail and greenway (boulevard) not asked for.
• Albeit good for new communities these features are out of place and unaccepted in our neighborhood.
For example, not found on the SW end of Sunset Dr, Shoreline Dr or Shadywood Rd.
• Neighborhood accessibility has not been considered.
• No continued walking path from Sunset Drive to Navarre (along Shadywood Road)
• No improvements considered for adjacent roads and contiguous accessibility
Requested Sunset Drive features:
• Upgrade failing utilities
• Maintain all Improvements proposed but without the excessive cost and width.
• Safety,traffic calming, curbs, bike accessibility, pedestrian accessibility(sidewalk)
• Maintain rural lake community feel (no greenways (boulevard) or wide asphalt trials)
We,the citizens of Spring Park, request the City of Spring Park to reject the Hennepin County Transportation current
proposed Preliminary Layout dated 6/1/2023 for Sunset Drive,which was presented at the June 6th community meeting
at Thor Thompson Park.We request the Spring Park City Council to request the County to create a new layout per the
objections and requested points describe above.
