SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
MARCH 27,2006
9:00 p.m. -CITY HALL
Council Members Present: Hughes,Reinhardt,Widmer,Williamson, and Mayor Rockvam
Others Present: City Attorneys Tom Seifert and Nancy Beck, City Utility Superintendent
D. J. Goman
The meeting started at approximately 9:00 p.m., immediately following the joint
moratorium workshop meeting with the Planning Commission and Dan Petrik of Northwest
Associated Consultants, Inc.
Sarah Reinhardt moved that the offer of employment made to Wendy Lewin by Nancy Beck
for the office assistant position be approved. Motion seconded and passed unanimously.
All Council members made a list of their choices for the City Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer
position in priority order. The group agreed that if any candidate received three first choice
votes,that candidate would be offered the position. Matthew Jaunich received three first
place votes and Sarah Friesen received two first place votes. The Council then discussed
the terms of employment. During the course of this discussion,the focus changed to a
discussion of the qualifications of the candidates. The Council determined that more
information about the candidates and their qualifications is needed before an offer of
employment is made. Tom Seifert was directed to contact consultant Jim Brimeyer to
obtain additional information about the top two candidates,particularly with respect to their
qualifications for the clerk role, and to request that the two finalists for the position,
Matthew Jaunich and Sarah Friesen,be asked back for second interviews with the Council.
Meeting adjourned at approximately 10:10 p.m.
