Drain tile or pipe must be = 3" in diameter and %" minimum washed gravel must cover the pipe by more than 4" on all sides (2020 Minnesota State Plumbing Code, Section 1101.6) 2. All water from foundation drains or sumps must be pumped or drained directly to the exterior through rigid plastic or steel piping. No sump water is allowed to be pumped into floor drains, sinks, or any other access to sanitary sewer. (2020 Minnesota State Plumbing Code, Section 1101.6.1) 3. Sump basket must be a minimum of 15" in diameter and 18" deep, with a fitted, gasketed, and secured cover, Sump pump must have = 15 gallons per minute flow rate. The discharge line must be 1 %" diameter minimum and have a union or other approved quick -disconnect assembly to make the pump accessible for servicing. (2020 Minnesota State Plumbing Code, Section 1101.6.2) 4. Subsoil drains subject to backflow where discharging into a storm drain shall be provided with a backwater valve in the drain line so located as to be accessible for inspection and maintenance.
