Approval is based on the compliance with 011tems listed below.
Comments:
1. Address shall be posted and visible from the fronting street.
2. Heating and cooling equipment shall be sized no more than 10 percent greater than the calculated peak heating
and cooling loads. (MEC Subsection C403.2.2)
3. Any existing gravity load -carrying structural element for which an alteration causes an increase in design dead,
live, or snow load, including snow drift effect, that increase the demand -capacity ratio to more than 105 percent,
shall be replaced or altered as needed to carry the gravity loads, under a separate building permit. (MCCEB
503.3)
4. Carbon Monoxide Alarms:
i. Carbon monoxide alarms shall be installed in new and existing rooms containing a fuel -burning appliance
that is utilized to control environmental conditions and produces carbon monoxide during operation. (MFGC
Subsection 311.1)
ii. Carbon monoxide alarms shall comply with MFGC Subsection 311.2
5. Equipment Installation:
1. An unobstructed passageway measuring not less than 36 inches wide and 80 inches in height shall be
provided for appliances within rooms. (MMC Subsection 306.2)
ii. Guards shall be provided where various components that require service and roof hatch openings are
located within 10 feet (3048 mm) of a roof edge. (MMC Subsection 304.11)
iii. Where components that require service are installed on a roof having a slope of three units vertical in 12
units horizontal or greater and having an edge more than 30 inches above grade at such edge, a level
platform shall be provided on each side of the component to which access is required for service, repair, or
maintenance. (MMC Subsection 306.5.1)
6. Chimneys and Vents:
1. Venting components for appliances utilizing a power exhaust system shall have sealed joints. (MFGC
Subsection 501.10)
ii. Gas vents (type B, B-W, & L) shall be installed and terminate in accordance with MFGC Subsection 503.6.
Single wall metal pipe vents shall be installed and terminate in accordance with MFGC Subsection 503.7.
Mechanical vent systems shall be installed and terminate in accordance with MFGC Subsection 503.8.
7. Gas Piping:
i. Gas piping shall be sized in compliance with MFGC section 402.
ii. Corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) gas piping systems shall be bonded in accordance with MFGC
Subsection 310.2 or 310.3 as applicable.
iii. Gas piping exposed to corrosive action shall be protected in an approved manner. (MFGC Subsection
404.11)

iv. Steel gas piping sizes % inch shall be supported at intervals not greater than 6 feet, % inch and 1 inch shall
be supported at intervals of not greater than 8 feet, and piping sizes 1'/4 inch and larger shall be supported
at intervals not greater than 10 feet. Refer to MFGC Table 415.1 of MFGC section 415 for support
information for other sizes and/or materials.
v. Copper gas tubing sizes '/z inch shall be supported at intervals not greater than 4 feet; ? inch and % inch
shall be supported at intervals of not greater than 6 feet. Refer to MFGC Table 415.1 of MFGC section 415
for support information for other sizes and/or materials.
A. Gas piping shall be elevated no less than 3%: inches above the ground/roof surface and protected from
physical damage. (MFGC Subsection 404.9)
vii. A minimum 3-inch sediment trap shall be installed prior to the regulator. If a tee fitting is used, it shall
provide a 90-degree change in direction of gas flow. (MFGC Subsection 408.4)
viii. Each appliance shall be provided with a shutoff valve in the gas line, separate from the appliance and no
further than 6 feet from the appliance, or located within 50 feet of the appliance when located at a manifold.
(MFGC Subsection 409.5)
ix. All gas piping shall be tested and Inspected In compliance with MFGC section 406.
a. Test Pressure:1 to operating pressure but not less than 25 psig
b. Duration: thirty (30) minutes
c. Gauge: 2 psig increments
d. Test Pressure: Shall be within the middle 50 percent of the gauge pressure range
x. A final gas piping system, appliance and equipment leakage test shall be conducted in the presence of the
Inspector at the final Inspection. (MFGC Subsection 406.6)
8. Refrigerant Piping:
i. Any portion of a refrigeration system that is subject to physical damage shall be protected in an approved
manner. (MMC Subsection 1101.3)
ii. Refrigerant circuit access ports located outdoors shall be fitted with locking -type tamper -resistant caps or
shall be otherwise secured to prevent unauthorized access. (MMC Subsection 1101.10)
ill. Refrigerant piping shall comply with MMC section 1107.
iv. Refrigerant piping shall be of an approved material in accordance with MMC Subsection 1107.5.
v. Refrigerant pipe joints erected on the premises shall be exposed to visual inspection prior to being covered
or enclosed. (MMC Subsection 1107.7)
vi. Piping insulation shall comply with Table C403.11.3. (MEC Subsection C403.11.3)
vii. Piping insulation shall be protected by aluminum, sheet metal, painted canvas, plastic cover or other
approved material. Cellular foam shall be protected by a previous identified method or painted with a
coating that is water -retardant and shields against solar degradation. Adhesive tape shall not be permitted.
(MEC Subsection C403.11.3.1)
9. Condensate:
L Condensate from fuel-buming appliances shall discharge to an approved plumbing fixture via approved
corrosion -resistant piping at a minimum slope of 1% slope. (MMC Subsection 307.1)
ii. Condensate drain systems shall be provided for appliances containing evaporators or cooling coils. (MMC
