these documents and/or additional information shall be submitted to the Department of Building Safety for code
compliance review and approval. Written response of approval must be on site prior to implementation of such changes.
The following information is related to the submitted plans/scope or as general information regarding code compliance.

SCOPE OF WORK: Replacing one (1) furnace and one (1) A/C unit
PLAN SHEETS REVIEWED: No plans submitted, none required.
PLAN SPECIFIC ITEMS (to be completed during the construction process):
1. It is assumed that the new furnace and air conditioning is comparable to the existing fumace and air conditioning
unit in size, BTU input/output, CFM, and performance. If not, a reevaluation of the required ventilation of the
spaces the furnace supplies shall be completed.
2. Fumace shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. Installation instructions
shall be available to the inspector during the final inspection.
3. 307.2.1 Condensate disposal (2020 Minnesota State Mechanical Code). Condensate from all cooling coils and
evaporators shall be conveyed from the drain pan outlet to an approved place of disposal. Such piping shall
maintain a minimum horizontal slope in the direction of discharge of not less than one -eighth unit vertical in 12
units horizontal (1-percent slope). Condensate shall not discharge into a street, alley or other areas so as to cause
a nuisance.
4. Gas line valves shall be of an approved type, shall be constructed of materials compatible with the piping, and
shall comply with the standard that is applicable for the pressure and application in accordance with Table 409.1.1
of the 2020 Minnesota State Fuel Gas Code. Valves shall also be installed within 6'-0' of the appliance and
upstream of the union (2020 Minnesota State Fuel Gas Code, Section 409.5.1)
5. Sediment trap (2020 Minnesota State Fuel Gas Code, Section 408.4). Where a sediment trap is not incorporated
as part of the appliance, a sediment trap shall be installed downstream of the appliance shutoff valve as close to
the inlet of the appliance as practical. The sediment trap shall be either a tee fitting having a capped nipple of any
length installed vertically in the bottommost opening of the tee.
6. Loddng access port caps (2020 Minnesota State Mechanical Code, Section 1101.10). Refrigerant circuit access
ports located outdoors shall be fitted with locking -type tamper -resistant caps or shall be otherwise secured to
prevent unauthorized access.
7. Protee6an of P0.19 Insulation k"=24 Minnesota State Commercial Energy code, ASHRAE 90.1-2019, Section
6.4.4.1.1 ). Piping insulation shall be protected from damage, including damage from sunlight, moisture,
equipment maintenance, and wind, and shall provide shielding from solar radiation to deter degradation of the
material.
GENERAL ITEMS:
1. Construction or work shall be inspected in accordance with the requirements of Minnesota Rule 1300.0210.
2. It is the responsibility of the contractor/installer to contact the Department of Building Safety, when ready to
schedule an inspection, at (952) 442-7520 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
3. The approved permit and all related plans and documentation shall be on site and available to the inspector at the
time of inspection.
4. Failure to provide the required documentation to the inspector at the time of inspection may result in a cancelation
of the inspection and additional inspection fees for the additional inspection(s).
5. The field inspector may identify additional code requirement.
