Basements and sleeping rooms below the fourth story ' above grade plane shal I have at least one exterior emergency
escape and rescue opening in accordance with this section. Where basements contain one or more sleeping rooms,
emergency escape and rescue openings shall be required in each sleeping room, but shall not be required in adjoining
areas of the basement. Such openings shall open directly into a public wayor to a yardor courtthat opens to a public
way
1015.8.1 Window opening control devices. Window opening control devices shall comply with ASTM F2090. The window
opening control device, after operation to release the control device allowing the window to fully open, shall not reduce
the minimum net clear opening area of the window unit to less than the area required by Sec- tion 1030.2.
1015.8 Window openings. In occupancy Groups R-1, R-2, and R-3 where the lowest part of the opening of an operable
window is located more than 72 inches (1829 mm) above the finished grade or other surface below, the lowest part of the
window opening shall be at a height not less than 36 inches (914 mm) above the finished floor surface of the room in
which the window is located. Operable sections of windows shall not permit openings that allow passage of a 4-inch-
diameter (102 mm) sphere where such openings are located within 36 inches (914 mm) of the finished floor.
Exceptions:
1. Operable windows where the lowest part of the opening is located more than 75 feet (22 860 mm) above the
finished grade or other surface below and that are provided with window fall -prevention
devices that comply with ASTM F2006.
2. Windows whose openings will not allow a 4-inch- diameter (102 mm) sphere to pass through the open- ing when
the window is in its largest opened position.
3. Openings that are provided with window fall -pre- vention devices that comply with ASTM F2090.
4. Windows that are provided with window opening control devices that comply with Section 1015.8.1.

Buildings shall have approved address numbers,
building numbers or approved building identification
placed in a position that is plainly legible and visible
from the street or road fronting the property. These
numbers shall contrast with their background.
Addresses shall be Arabic numbers or alphabetical
letters. Numbers shall not be spelled out. Each
character shall be a minimum of 4 inches high with
a minimum stroke width of 1/2 inch. Where access
is by means of a private road and the building
cannot be viewed from the public way, a
monument, pole or other sign or means of
identification shall be used and maintained.
