Correspondence - 4325 Channel Road - 6/2/2026 - Planner DeclineHi Steven, As of now, detached accessory dwelling units are now allowed in the city; however, the City Council is currently considering allowing these units but has not yet made the final decision. I would expect that the City Council would review that final ordinance amendment within a month. This permit cannot be issued until such time as the ordinance is approved. I have attached the last version of the ordinance that was reviewed by the City so you can understand what is allowed, specifically regarding setbacks and the “family” provision. The Council is still considering the “homestead” language proposed in the ordinance. There will also be a separate application from the building permit for the ADU if an ordinance is passed. When the City Council approves the ordinance, we will revisit the application. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks.
