Approval is based on the correction of all noted deficiencies and compliance with all items listed below. Any changes from
these documents and/or additional information shall be submitted to the Department of Building Safety for code
compliance review and approval. Written response of approval must be on site prior to implementation of such changes.

Unit Heater shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. Installation
instructions shall be available to the inspector during the final inspection.
2. Gas line valves shall be of an approved type, shall be constructed of materials compatible with the piping, and
shall comply with the standard that is applicable for the pressure and application in accordance with Table 409.1.1
of the 2020 Minnesota State Fuel Gas Code. Valves shall also be installed within 6'-0" of the appliance and
upstream of the union (2020 Minnesota State Fuel Gas Code, Section 409.5.1)
3. 408.4 Sediment trap (2020 Minnesota State Fuel Gas Code, Section 408.4). Where a sediment trap is not
incorporated as part of the appliance, a sediment trap shall be installed downstream of the appliance shutoff valve
as close to the inlet of the appliance as practical. The sediment trap shall be either a tee fitting having a capped
nipple of any length installed vertically in the bottommost opening of the tee.
SECTION 920 UNIT HEATERS
1. 920.1 General. Unit heaters shall be installed in accordance with the listing and the manufacturer's instructions.
Oil -fired unit heaters shall be tested in accordance with UL 731.
2. 920.2 Support. Suspended -type unit heaters shall be supported by elements that are designed and constructed to
accommodate the weight and dynamic loads. Hangers and brackets shall be of noncombustible material.
Suspended -type oil -fired unit heaters shall be installed in accordance with NFPA 31.
3. 920.3 Ductwork. A unit heater shall not be attached to a warm -air duct system unless listed for such installation.
GENERAL ITEMS:
1. Construction or work shall be inspected in accordance with the requirements of Minnesota Rule 1300.0210.
2. It is the responsibility of the contractor/installer to contact the Department of Building Safety, when ready to
schedule an inspection, at (952) 442-7520 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
3. The approved permit and all related plans and documentation shall be on site and available to the inspector at the
time of inspection.
4. Failure to provide the required documentation to the inspector at the time of inspection may result in a cancelation
of the inspection and additional inspection fees for the additional inspection(s).
5. The field inspector may identify additional code requirement.
