S3455 PHONE 373 2321 373 2722 March 5, 1955 HYING ON VILLAGE PUBLICATION BILL To Selected Village Councils: S.F. 470, broadening village publication requirements, will be heard in the Senate Committee on municipal Affairs on Wed- nesday, March 10, at 9:00 a.m. This bill intro dwced by Sena- tors Har°ren, Imm, and Child, would amend the village code to require publication in the official ne•.:spaper of village coun- cil proceedings within 30 days after each council meeting. Such publication has always been optional. If your village is one of the more than 400 villages which do not have a newspaper published within the village limits, you will also be In+everted in an accocsaT`avitvcr of t':e Dill that would require publication of the annual village financial statement in +h;. s.'ficial village newspaper. Under present law, the statement crust `ne published if there is a newspaper publishe.. in the village; :+herwi se it may be posted. Under the present law, the financial statement must include the names of ill persons who have received payment from village Hinds, as well as the purpose of the expenditures. If you have an opinion on this bill, you are urged to be represented at the hearing or, if you cannot be pre sent; to communicate your views to the Chairman of the Senate Com- mittee, Senator P. J. Holand, and to your legislators. The League has no official position on this bill so it is especially important that councils ca rnmicate their own views, whether favorable r anfavorable. Pursuant to such Chapter 883, Laws of 1963, the per capita charge has now been set at 150 by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners. This results from the city of Minneapolis now being included in the Hennepin County Park System, thereby permitting the County Board to set the per capita rate. The amount you are to be assessed for the Park Levy, along with your population figure, is as follows: / POPULATION 8 1 S< per capita ;CC. yc Please notify us if your municipality decides to levy for this amount, or if you will pay your share from general funds or other sources.
